Scholarships For Each And Every One
Whilst it’s pretty much common knowledge that superior athletes or top academics can apply for scholarships to help fund their further education, many people don’t realize that there are also scholarships available for those with more unusual attributes? Oh yes, academics and superb athletes aren’t the only ones who can be awarded scholarships towards the cost of their college or university education.
Let’s take a look at some of the more wacky scholarships which are available, as many companies, charities and organizations realize that donating a scholarship can be a brilliant way to raise their profile, especially among the student population. Some of these wacky scholarships are awarded based on such things as hair color, weight, height, artistic people, musical people, people who suffer from asthma, vegetarians – the list is remarkably long (and a bit weird).
One of the great shames is that many of these more unusual or, let’s face it, downright weird scholarships go unclaimed as many students don’t even know that they exist. It is definitely worth spending a little time and a little effort tracking down any possibilities, however ridiculous it might seem, to help to pay for your education (especially if you’re a 4’ red headed vegetarian with identical triplets).
Gender equality has been a primary concern over the last few decades and the field of education is no different. There are more and more Scholarships for Women which have helped women to achieve their equality (or even superiority) in many different fields.Topics such as engineering, business, math and law which were traditionally thought of as a largely male domain now have a surprising number of women achieving outstanding positions in the workplace, thanks largely to these scholarships.
Over the last few decades the large number of African Americans in America has not been proportionately represented in further education, with simple lack of money often denying them the opportunity of a university education. There are now an increasing amount of African American Scholarships which are available and are helping to open up more opportunities for these people.
A shortfall in the number of qualified teachers in America is a real cause for concern, but an increasing amount of Teaching Scholarships are now available which is helping to solve the problem. With Teaching Scholarships being offered at local and national level it is hoping that more of the top talent in the country will be able to train for this worthwhile career.
