Is it racist to have scholarships for certain colors of people?

Why can't I get a scholarship because I am white? It is completely offensive to see all of these programs for African American or other minorities. Why can't I apply for these because of my skin color? Isn't that just full blown racism?? Are their any scholarships for average white males?

The reason there are more scholarship opportunities for minorities is because minorities tend to have lower income. Organizations want to "make up" for opportunities lost due to slavery and other forms of racism, so they want to give minorities an extra shot at going to college and making something of themselves.

You cannot apply for these scholarships because you are white, and white people statistically have better opportunities than minorities. While past generations of white people had the opportunity to go to college, own businesses, and such, blacks were forced into slavery and generally not allowed to do this, so they tend to be of lower income and cannot afford to go to college like the average white person can.

I don't necessarily see it as being unfair, because I am a low-income white person, and there are plenty of scholarship opportunities for low-income white people. It's not as if poor whites can't go to college and poor minorities can.

In addition, if you've worked hard in school and have the test scores and grades to prove it, you should have no problem attaining scholarships.

The minorities whine until they get what they want, it's like that in Canada with the natives. Unfortunately to get a scholarship while being white, you need to be very intelligent.

The overwhelming majority of scholarships out there are based on MERIT, not race. This means they are based on your grades, test scores, and teacher recommendations. It is not your color that is preventing you from getting a scholarship, it is your s h i t qualifications.
