Education is given a premium in today’s society. Parents would want their children to get the best education for a brighter future. However, the financial status of so many families has been recently dwindling. More families are earning less because their bread winners have lost their jobs. Many young people have lost hope in their dream of earning a degree. It’s a good thing that several institutions offer grants such as Left handed scholarships to aid students in their educational expenses.
The usual trend is that scholarships are only offered to those who excel in academics. Some may get scholarships for being an athlete or artist. So basically it would only be the jocks, the nerds and the artists who can avail of these financial aids. Yet times have changed and today several institutions sponsor scholars even for the quirkiest reasons. So anyo9ne with a unique trait can earn himself a scholarship. For instance, there are Left handed scholarships offered for lefties.
One of the classes that has often been discriminated upon is the group of left handed students. A few years back, left handed students had to struggle in school. Strict educational institutions would force them to conform and use their right hand. Teachers even used physical punishment just to correct left handed students. Schools were not lefty friendly so to speak. The desks and chairs in the classrooms were often designed to suit right handed students. This made things hard for the lefties.
It’s a good thing that times have changed nowadays and educators have now accepted lefties. People have changed their views on left handed people and they recognized that some of the best artists and the brightest minds are left handed. Schools have been more open in dealing with lefties and they have now found ways to accommodate them.
Other than these changes, there are also organizations that decided to cater to needs of the lefties. Some offer Left handed scholarships that give unfortunate lefties the chance to get good education.
